When the creative team at Royal Custom Designs in Chino, California, started planning their exhibit for the HDExpo 2024 in Las Vegas, they knew they wanted unique design elements to captivate audiences and highlight the company's dedication to luxury hospitality furnishings.
1. Inspiration and Design Concepts
With an Art Deco aesthetic in mind, the creative team at Royal Custom Designs wanted to incorporate reflective, mirror-like surfaces and dimensional elements reminiscent of the period. Instead of using high-end wallpaper, they contacted Luminux for a custom solution.
The Luminux design team, under the guidance of Art Director Gary Bannister, collaborated with the Royal Custom Designs team to conceptualize several designs. Leveraging Luminux's reflective aluminum panels and custom aesthetics, the team created an appealing, three-dimensional, mirrored concept to complement the booth's cabinetry.
Our first step was to create two colored textures to serve as the base for the dimensional designs.
Design Note: Areas in white depict the highly reflective, mirror-like sections of the design.
2. Customizing & Fine Tuning the Design
Once the creative team at Royal Custom Designs
selected their preferred pattern, they asked to view various color options. Eventually, they settled on a gold background texture. The Luminux team then prepared the design for printing according to the desired specifications and dimensions.
Bannister's deep understanding of how Luminux panels interact with light and the application of translucent, eco-friendly ink directly on Luminux's mirror-like panels culminated in an alluring custom trompe l'oeil design.

The outcome is a striking custom design with a distinctive finish, adding depth and interest to Royal Custom Designs’ cabinetry.
