Luminux’s NEW Moonshadow ‘Gold’ pattern has made its debut at The Uncommoner Hotel in West Yarmouth, Massachusetts!
Truly a place that lives up to its name, The Uncommoner Hotel may just be one of the most uniquely curated locations we’ve had the pleasure of helping shine! It only makes sense that we created a new antique mirror pattern to fit in this exceptional accommodation.
The interior designer, Jessica Smith from Studio 59 East, told us she wanted a ceiling that would bring "warmth, reflection, and a memorable sense of atmosphere" to the hotel’s tarot-bar restaurant. She had the idea to adapt our original silver Moonshadow pattern into a warmer, gold-toned finish to properly match the colors in the space.
The palette evokes a nostalgic, coastal, and whimsical vibe. The antique mirror ceiling tiles pull the sea, the city, and the soul of Marseille into the Cape’s salty air.

A Seamless Look, Planned Panel by Panel
The ceiling at The Uncommoner Hotel, like most hospitality ceilings, was not a simple uninterrupted plane; we had to work around recessed lights, air vents, pendant lighting, and safety elements such as the exit sign.
Luminux reflective antique ceiling panels are perfect for complicated ceilings like this, as they can be cut and adjusted to accommodate these conditions. The Gold Moonshadow pattern was especially forgiving in this case, allowing the panels to be shaped around functional elements while still maintaining the overall gold antique mirror ceiling tile effect.

While keeping this in mind, we also have to prioritize visual continuity. Even though it is fabricated from individual tiles, the design intent was for the pattern to read as one continuous antique mirror surface. We created a dedicated installation layout document showing the placement of each panel.
Every tile was assigned a specific position so the pattern would flow correctly across the ceiling sections. (Fig. A)

A Smarter Way to Reduce Shipping Costs
The original shipping plan was simply to send the full
4' x 8' panels. Instead, the project team looked to a more cost-effective solution: cutting
the panels into 2' x 2' tiles before shipping.
This decision reduced the shipping cost by more than half.
We know how important design impact is, but so is budget discipline. By changing the fabrication and shipping strategy, the project maintained the desired gold antique mirror effect while improving overall cost efficiency.
This is our reminder to designers:
Custom does not have to mean complicated or expensive.
With the right planning, Luminux can help adapt our
materials to fit any project budget, logistics, design, and installation needs.
