“LaScala is a piece that continues to give more the longer you look at it, with varied blade shapes and random interaction of suspended towers. Its unusual, quadrilateral-shaped blades balance each other as they dance and play off of the vertical spine support. Gary worked really carefully to accomplish the visual and physical coordination of this sculpture, while continuing to artistically push the importance of diversity through the whole piece.”

“To play on the idea of contradiction, I chose to print this particular model of LaScala using a custom design that has linework inspired by Whirlwind, one of Luminux’s original patterns, overlaying gentle, calming nature imagery. Between the harshness of the sculptural shape, the tranquil artistic nature imagery on each blade seeps out from between the rigid, angular shapes.”
